Jason Sheasby - Trial Attorney and Partner at Irell & Manella

An award-winning intellectual property attorney based in Los Angeles, California, Jason Sheasby is a partner at Irell & Manella. Jasom Sheasby has been working at the LA-based law firm since 1999, when he graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School.

A skilled litigator, Mr. Sheasby has successfully represented numerous clients in patent trials against major companies. Among his most recent successes, he was a co-lead counsel on the successful trial for Netlist in a suit against Samsung involving patents relating to computer memory technology. He also represented clients in other fields, including genomics, polymer chemistry, and antibody humanization.

Alongside his successful career as an attorney, Mr. Sheasby has co-founded the biopharmaceutical company TORL Biotherapeutics. The company focuses on developing antibody therapies for various types of cancer, including ovarian and pancreatic cancer, based on university research. Furthermore, he is on the board of trustees for Pomona College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 1996.

Mr. Sheasby has received numerous awards for his work, particularly in recent years. He is the 2025 recipient of the Litigator of the Year (California) by Managing IP Americas Awards, the 2024 Litigator of the Year by The American Lawyer, and a 2024 finalist for IP Lawyer of the Year by The Recorder. Furthermore, he was named among the Top IP Lawyers by the Daily Journal six times between 2015 and 2024.
